Overview

Diabetes both type 1 and type 2  are more difficult to diagnose in 2021; First off type 2 diabetes can afftect young people even children and type 1 diabetes

can present in 80 year olds; When you have that patient in front of you  there are certain questions you need to ask to make sure you are not missing a case of LADA or Monogenic diabetes. Furthermore some endocrine conditions such as cushings and acromegaly can present with diabetes before the other endocrine problem is diagnosed; So its important that you have tools the help with this.

Objectives

As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand meaning of LADA and which patients to check for this
  • Understand which cases may present as monogenic diabetes and what this means for the patient
  • Be aware of other endocrinopathies that may only be presenting to you with diabetes
