Objectives

As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify signs of Parkinson's disease in an elderly person, distinguishing it (and why) from other forms of “atypical parkinsonism”
  • Identify “non-motor” symptoms of parkinsonism, particularly those that may present as a "geriatric syndrome" such as falls or cognitive impairment
  • Formulate a treatment plan, pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic; including when to refer for specialized neurological and/or multi-disciplinary care
