Overview

The use of ASA for primary cardiovascular protection has been a therapy administered by many for several decades. REcently, over the past several year 3 major tirals and 3 meta analysis have qeustioned the validity of this practice. This presentation will explore the new Heart and Stroke Foundation Guidlines on the use of ASA for primary prevention and the rational used to create this guidline.

Objectives

As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Be aware of the new heart and stroke best practice recommendatino for the use of ASA in primary cardiovacular prevention
  • Understand the importance of shared decision making
  • Identify subgroups not covered in the new guideline
